Investigation of Place

During my Masters Degree in Arts & Ecology at Dartington College, I personally explored the idea of place.

I joined and took part, in many and diverse meetings of groups of interest - I became my own expert on visible and invisible networks within my own geographical community.

This led to initiating two collaborative walks in September 2007 to Re-map the River Erme with representatives from some of the groups. Followed by an open presentation and forum on a future Creative Arts Forum in our Town.

I believe Arts can be a point for exchange and a language that is accessible across diversity of age and interest.......and has led me to extend my investigation to the length of the River Erme Valley.

RIVER ERME VALLEY INITIATIVE

A PERIPATETIC INVESTIGATION OF PLACE

mouth to source

This is an artist led initiative to create opportunities for re-engagement with our local environment. Arts as catalyst in stimulating participation.

Using multi-sensory learning and social ecologies the purpose is to to find new ways of re-connecting with our local area, I believe, necessary for future social and environmental change.

A "Civil Artist" in every community?

The initial Community of Ivybridge Project gives the history that has led me to extend this initiative to the length of the River Valley, broadening participation across more communities.
